Investigations
OIG investigators are Federal law enforcement officers who conduct criminal and regulatory investigations involving the programs and activities of PBGC. For example, the OIG investigates allegations of theft of pension benefits or plan assets, travel-related fraud, procurement improprieties, and employee and contractor misconduct.
To assist PBGC in accomplishing its' important mission with integrity, the public and PBGC employees and contractors are encouraged to report suspected crime, fraud, waste & misconduct to the OIG. Contact us through our HOTLINE for reporting matters confidentially. Investigations is staffed with investigators, an investigative assistant, and the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations who oversees the investigation function.
Because investigations involve sensitive information about specific people, the reports are not publicly available. We summarize our most significant investigations in our Semiannual Reports to Congress.
